Requirement: A Warden encounter separates reaching the location from claiming the Shell.
Plan for a fight, not a free body pickup
Use Citadel of Penance as the route landmark. The published route reaches a lower area through the elevator section and then the Warden encounter. Both collection sources connect Eredrim to defeating this enemy. Reaching the correct part of the Citadel is therefore only the navigation step; budget the session for learning the fight as well.
Before triggering the encounter, make sure the equipment you intend to use is selected and your route back is understood. If your remaining time is short, stop at a stable checkpoint and save the Warden objective in the planner. There is little benefit in rushing a collection attempt simply because you have already walked to the location. The Shell can be a separate goal from a full Citadel exploration session.
Unlock cost: distinguish a hint from a bond
Finding a body, revealing its location and upgrading its bond are different actions. A Shellkeeper map reveal is a navigation service; it should not be described as the purchase price of the playable Shell. The linked routes let you pursue the pickup without assuming that buying a hint completes any local fight, offering or quest interaction.
We have not verified a current per-Shell Gloom price table. Read the live reveal prompt on your installed version before spending, and compare that optional cost with your next Harbinger or equipment upgrade. We do not fill the missing table with guessed values. Tiel and Proxima already have early markers; Genessa follows a separate Censer chain.
The Week 1 official update changes the long-term resource picture and introduces Mether’s Severance for Shell resets. Old advice that assumes a permanently fixed lifetime Glimpse budget needs that patch context. Use the respec guide for the return process, and read the confirmation prompt before applying it to a bond you want to keep.
Learn the Warden with a defensive first attempt
On an unfamiliar attempt, prioritize recognizing the start and end of attack sequences. A weapon swing that looks finished can still be followed by another movement. Resist the urge to spend the whole opening on damage until you know when control is safe. Treat a dodge-and-short-punish approach as an experiment, not as a universal requirement or a claim that every attack is unparryable.
The September 24 official notes adjust the Warden’s jump timing, trigger boxes and positioning. This makes version matching particularly useful here. A video recorded before that patch can still show the route, but its exact movement timing may no longer be a reliable rehearsal. Compare the behavior in your own encounter before committing to an old scripted response.
What Eredrim should solve in your build
The archived kit describes Shoulder Bash and an execution-related passive. Those mechanics suggest testing how Eredrim converts a close-range opportunity into a controlled exchange. They do not establish a verified current health table or prove that he is the best late-game Shell. The old phrase about many player reports has been replaced by a concrete decision process.
Choose one situation in which your current Shell struggles: staying close enough to punish, interrupting a recoverable enemy, or finishing a weakened target without taking a trade. Test Eredrim in that situation using the same weapon. If the available ability improves the exchange, examine the relevant current upgrades. If the problem is still your attack length, changing the body alone is unlikely to solve it.
Compare Eredrim with Lazlo deliberately
Both can interest a player looking for a sturdier approach, but their archived mechanics raise different questions. Eredrim invites a test of close-range pressure and execution opportunities. Lazlo invites a test of armor state and the consequences of repeated ability use. Compare those practical behaviors instead of putting both into a single tank category and assuming their upgrades are interchangeable.
Use a familiar enemy so navigation and discovery do not obscure the comparison. Record which action caused the failure, how you recovered and whether the Shell’s available tool helped. Do not buy an entire upgrade path before testing the first meaningful difference. If you decide to change an existing investment, read the respec guide and inspect what the current game says will be refunded.
Patch issues that can look like build problems
The Week 1 official notes address Shoulder Bash leaving the primary weapon stowed. A weapon that fails to return is a different problem from a punish window being too short. Check the installed build before interpreting an old report as a permanent limitation of Eredrim’s kit. If the action works normally, practice the transition back to your regular attacks in a low-pressure encounter.
After the Warden is defeated, finish the body interaction and confirm Eredrim in the Shell menu. Keep the collection check distinct from your later build test. You can complete the unlock today and postpone a resource-heavy comparison until the next session. The tracker is useful for recording the former; the planner is useful for remembering what you wanted to learn with the latter.
Ability names and upgrade verification
Archived active name: Shoulder Bash. Archived passive name: Executioner. Read the current in-game tooltips before assigning numbers or selecting upgrades. These names are historical context, not a freshly measured retail stat table.
Questions before you commit
Where do I unlock Eredrim?
Citadel of Penance → lower levels/elevators → The Warden → claim the body.
Is a Gloom map reveal the unlock price?
A reveal is an optional navigation hint. Complete the route’s fight, interaction or quest condition; this page does not invent an unverified reveal price.
How do I confirm the pickup?
Finish the prompted sequence and check the Shell selection screen. Reaching a search area or winning one encounter is not sufficient confirmation.
